Streams In The Desert

September 21st
"I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord."
Philippians 3:8

The autumn season we are now entering is one of cornfeilds ripe for harvest, of the cheerful song of those who reap the crops, and of gathered and securely stored grain. So allow me to draw your attention to the sermon of the fields.
This is its solemn message:
"You must die in order to live.
You must refuse to consider your own comfort and well-being.
You must be crucified, not only to your own desires and habits that are obviously sinful but also to many others that may appear to be innocent and right.
If you desire to save others, you cannot save yourself, and if you desire to bear much fruit, you must be buried in darkness and solitude."
My heart fails me when I listen.
But when the words are from Jesus, may I remind myself that it is my great privilege to enter into "the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings" (Phil. 3:10) and I am therefore in great company.
May I also remind myself that all the suffering is designed to make me a vessel suitable for His use.
And may I remember that His Calvary blossomed into His abundant fruitfulness, and so will mine.
Pain leads to plenty, and death to life-it is the law of the kingdom! from In the Hour of Silence

The Constitution of the United States

The Constitution if the United States

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
The preamble to the United States Constitution.

Today is the anniversary of the official end to the Constitutional Convention in 1787.

Fifty-five delegates from the thirteen colonies officially convened
on May 27, 1787 at the State House in Philadelphia, PA; known as "Independence Hall".

After months of discussion, compromise, and most importantly  prayer; the delegates signed what is now our Constitution.

It was then sent to the thirteen states to be ratified by each state's legislatures.

Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution
on December 7, 1787.
New Hampshire cast the required ninth vote, making the Constitution official.
By May 29, 1790 all thirteen states had voted to ratify the Constitution.

In Honor of Uncle Bill

Happy Birthday Uncle Bill!

Today would have been my Great Uncle Bill's Birthday.

He was a big part of my growing up years.
Uncle Bill would come by our house after work and nap, visit with us, and sometimes stay for dinner. We went camping and fishing together too! He'd house sit for us and come to all the family gatherings; birthday parties, anniversaries, graduations, etc.
Uncle Bill was a great example in my life of a God fearing, family loving, hard working man.
I miss you Uncle Bill but look forward to spending eternity with you!
